MAST Mayflower Studios funds community Mobile Storytelling workshop

1–2 minutes

Another group of individuals have gained digital media skills thanks to the generosity of our partner, MAST Mayflower Studios. MAST paid for a Mobile Storytelling workshop so that individuals can benefit from our training for free. It was great to have such a community-focused, creative organisation, such as MAST, support our mission to amplify black voices and stories, and to upskill our communities.

Our Mobile Storytelling workshop teaches people how to create, film, edit and share content, and tell compelling stories, using their smartphone. Through learning how to make mobile videos, participants gain modern skills for personal and professional development.

“I will be able to create engaging content that stands out better than my previous output, without relying on the skills of others.” – Participant feedback

Plus, as part of the collaboration, MAST was able to meet and make meaningful connections with people from Hampshire’s African and Caribbean communities. MAST’s Outreach Programme Leader, Katie Spencer, was able to introduce the group to the organisation, give insight into its community engagement and outreach work, and offer opportunities for them to return to enjoy shows with their families. And, as a participant of the training herself, Katie also gained mobile storytelling skills to authentically showcase MAST’s outreach work and community projects.

It is thanks to amazing organisations like MAST, who sponsor our workshops, that we can continue to provide our training to individuals and local residents for free.
