Our media survey of black people living in Southampton revealed that local media’s portrayal of black people made them feel “annoyed and frustrated”, “like black people aren’t important”, “unheard”, “under-represented and invisible”, “sad, misunderstood and stereotyped”. To address this, we created our Black Community Coverage Clinic, to amplify the city’s black voices by empowering our communities to tell and share their own stories.

Our Black Community Coverage Clinic is a free ‘drop-in’ that provides marketing, communications, promotion and media tips, training, consultancy and support to Southampton’s black community organisation leaders and representatives.
