Beat the Heat

1–2 minutes

Opportunities and an event Tuesday 8th July 2025 | A Southampton Collective project

“As we face hotter summers and more frequent heatwaves, we need more than awareness – we need action.” – Beat the Heat

Beat the Heat is a coalition of partners putting community experiences and voices at the heart of imagining potential mitigations and enabling action.

There are three ways you can get involved:

Attend the Beat the Heat event on Tuesday 8th July

A workshop bringing together residents, researchers, local organisations and decision-makers to shape responses to the health and environmental impacts of rising heat in the Southampton area.

This is your invitation to help design a city that works for everyone – even in extreme temperatures. Together, attendees will explore:

– Who is most affected by heat stress?

– Where are the hotspots in the Southampton area?

– How can we adapt our streets, buildings, green spaces and infrastructure for health and wellbeing?

– What support and communications will keep people informed and safe?

– How can we create inclusive solutions that involve community voices—especially young people and those most impacted?

Date: Tuesday 8th July

Time: 5:30pm to 8:00pm

Location: God’s House Tower, Southampton

Book: Entry is free but you must book https://www.thersa.org/events/2025/06/beat-the-heat/
