A Southampton City Libraries event

Author Simon Hudson shares stories celebrating the arrival of The Empire Windrush, its passengers and legacy.

Based on stories recorded in his books History Through the Black Experience, Simon will talk about the Empire Windrush, the generations that proceeded the ships arrival at Tilbury on 21st June 1958, and those who became known as the Windrush generation. Who were they, why had they been invited to live in this country and what was their legacy?

Simon was born in Southampton in 1964 to Jamaican parents who arrived in the city in 1957, part of the Windrush generation.

The talk will be followed by a Q&A session.
