OVM Online Safety workshop for African and Caribbean Over 55s

Get confident online and learn how to protect yourself and your loved ones from online harms.

This free workshop was developed with and for older people from Southampton’s African and Caribbean communities. It is delivered by Our Version Media and funded by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) as part of the government’s media literacy programme to protect people – particularly older people and those from minoritised communities – from online disinformation and cyber crime.

The workshop will take place at various venues in March & April 2023. Learn how to:

  • Use the internet, email and WhatsApp safely
  • Keep your personal information safe from hackers
  • Protect yourself from online scammers
  • Identify fake news and disinformation
  • Find information from reputable sources
  • Report and reduce nuisance messages
