Our work empowering people from Southampton’s black and ethnically diverse communities through mobile storytelling appeared on the BBC this week.
Three mums who were part of our Our Voices, Our Stories training programme shared their stories with BBC South News. Helen Jackson, Laura Racioppi and Hafsat Bello were three of eight local residents in Our Voices, Our Stories who learned how to create, film and edit videos – to tell their stories – using a smartphone. Our Voices, Our Stories culminated in a community stories screening, where participants’ videos were shown on the big screen at MAST Mayflower Studios.
The women spoke to reporter Sophia Seth about their experiences of moving to Southampton from abroad and settling into a new city. Clips from Helen, Laura and Hafsat’s Our Voices, Our Stories videos even featured in the BBC news report. Watch it here [Broadcast date: Tuesday 9th August 2022]
