Our Black Community Coverage Clinic is back, to amplify even more black voices!

It’s back! Our weekly Black Community Coverage Clinic returns this month! This free consultancy service provides marketing, communications and media support and guidance to Southampton’s black community organisation leaders and representatives.

The weekly drop-in first launched in 2020, running on the Zoom platform from 14th September to 14th December 2020. Leaders from the city’s black organisations booked in to learn creative ways to amplify their voices and community stories.

Now, for 2021, our drop-in sessions can take place in-person at Our Version Media’s office or online.

Kwame Bakoji-Hume from African Activities booked our Black Community Coverage Clinic sessions to familiarise himself with using Zoom.

African Activities provides cultural workshops, such as storytelling and drumming, in schools across the UK. In 2020, the organisation had to cease these activities because of the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown.

Kwame booked a few sessions on our Black Community Coverage Clinic to learn more about using Zoom. In their meetings, Veronica shared Zoom usage tips and guidance. Kwame was able to expand his Zoom confidence and know-how.

Soon, Kwame was able to deliver his African Activities workshops using Zoom, expanding the organisation’s reach and ensuring more primary schoolchildren could benefit from his cultural workshops.
