Young change-makers gain media skills to showcase social impact

With lockdown over, we’ve moved our Mobile Storytelling to Showcase Social Impact workshops from online to in-house!

Whether at our base at MAST Mayflower Studios or out in the community, it’s great to be back connecting with people face-to-face! We ran our first in-person session at Northam Community Centre in August, for young people from Northam and Newtown. For their second training session, we welcomed them to our training room at MAST (pictured above). The teenagers are part of the international The Agency programme and Hampshire’s Energise Me and are creating social enterprises in their neighbourhoods to tackle local issues.

Now, with their new mobile journalism and digital media skills, they’re making videos to tell their stories!

“I liked how Veronica explained the activities thoroughly and made it easy to use the editing apps. The lessons were fun and I’ve learned that we don’t need an expensive camera to capture compelling stories.” – Yulu

We’d like to thank Mayflower Engage for funding this digital media skills training.
